OFF -White is on a new path with its spring 2023 ready to wear collection. Ib Kamara's debut collection for Off-White continued to uplift Virgil Abloh's vision. This collection was, at its earliest stages, conceived and started by Abloh before his death in 2021. Kamara said the team had taken the original brief—an exploration of the human body—and built on it. “Virgil was always thinking ahead,” he added. “He was almost in another universe.” Creating what was a moving experience for everyone with dancers choreographed by Nicolas Huchard accompanied with music by Faty Sy Savanet. With such high energy sure even the entertainers were entertained.
The front row and red carpet was filled with celebrities like Hally Bailey, Erykah Badu, Naomi, KRISTY SPAROW, Anna Cleveland, Jefferson Hack, MARC PIASECKI, Gemma Chan, Deepika Padukone, Renate Reinsve, Léa Seydoux, Lous and the Yakuza and Jennifer Connelly, Kaitlyn Dever, Jurnee Smollett, Jaden Smith and Maggie Rogers
With Paris Fashion Week being officially over we can take a moment to go over the new wave of Off-White in light of Virgil's passing. It seems as though the new director, Ib Kamara, is off to make just as large and bold statements for off-white as the brand has always done. Kamara was deemed Image and Art Director back in April by Off-White CEO Andrea Grilli to keep the creative spirit of Virgil prevalent in the new collection.
With Off-White's continued efforts to remain creative, fresh, and fun with a sense of something sophisticated and nuance they will remain a staple in pop culture. The new line features a plethora of new ready to wear pieces. Pieces that are often complemented by a hypnotizing blue deemed "the impossible blue" a warm indigo shade that Virgil was inspired by. In this collection you can find frequent sought-after pieces this time of year like jackets from denim, puffer, and leather all orchestrated and designed in a way that is most certainly unique.
It's not often you see a deconstructed puffer coat. An interesting combination of high-end well-made fashion meets active wear elements as well as black sheer pieces, knitted pieces, full denim sets, and suits. And as always staple accessories to complement the looks.
Ibrahim Kamara, Off-White's new art and image director is welcoming us to the brand’s new era. According to the fashion house it’s on "the cusp of something new".
